Awakened by cries
Dreams end
Flower girls hope
In jest
Knowing love might not
Offer peace
Quietly remember somebody true
Under violently weeping xylophones
Yodeling Zeitgeist.
How could I resist the challenge to write a poem where each word began with a consecutive letter of the alphabet? Thanks Slouching Mom.

love it!
you know what's funny -- i played with "zeitgeist" for some time, but it didn't work in the context of my poem.
weeping xylophones--what a great way to use an x word. great poem.
These are all so fun.
Great poem.
fun!
Terrific!
You did a fabulous job with this poem! I hope to try my hand at it soon.

I love these lines, which almost transform the dreams themselves into a separate being, a separate consciousness.
Brilliant.
I know you started it as a fun challenge, but it truly ended as an amazing poem.
"Flower girls hope in jest".
I could see them, laughing, and hoping, and afraid to hope.
Beautiful.
While my xylophone gently weeps...
Nice! This is such a fun thing to do, and it can really elicit good stuff (yours is a case in point!). I once did a similar flash fiction exercise with 26 sentences, each one beginning with the consecutive letters of the alphabet. It can work with a blog post, too, if you want to get creative one day :)
