Anyone wondering how the first week of Montessori is going?
Anyone out there?
Hellllllooooo?
Well, like I said on Day One, Z didn't shed a tear, and after Day Three, I have yet to see her do anything remotely clingy when I drop her off. When I asked if she's been shy, the teacher said she doesn't say "here" when they call roll. (They call roll. How cute is that?) But that today when the teacher asked for volunteers to help with clean up after a circle time activity, Z raised her hand first. I've known for a while that she's a teacher's pet. So I guess that particular instinct trumps the shyness gene.
My only problem with Rocky is getting him to leave at the end of the day. When he sees me, he whispers "Mama" under his breath, shrugs, and goes back to filling a play mailbox with sand. I stand there talking to the teacher for ten full minutes and he never runs up to me. I imagine he's saying to himself over and over in his head, "If I pretend like I don't know her, she'll go away and let me play here in this magical wonderland forever."

yay! that's great news.
Oh yeah. I'd have trouble getting her to GO to school, but then she wouldn't want to LEAVE.
This is way better than, "MA-MA. Maaaaaaaaaaa-ma. MAAMAMAMAMMAAA."
Right?
And also, Chris taught him the ignoring trick.
